There are significant expenses associated with providing highly qualified specialist care, and these in turn determine our fees.
We try to keep our fees and out of pocket expenses within reach to many families with private health insurance.
The Australian Medical Association (AMA) issues a list of recommended fees for all operations. Most operations we perform are charged inline or below the AMA rate.
Patients without private health insurance who are recommended surgery can be referred to a public hospital Gynaecology service, or provided with a written quote for this to be performed in a private hospital.
Fees of surgical services in Australia can be complex and difficult to navigate. We are transparent with our fee structure and will do our best to break this down for you so you understand this before your surgery.

I HAVE PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE WHY ARE THEIR OUT OF POCKET COSTS?
Our Surgical fees and quotations are based on the Federal Australian Medical Association (AMA) fee schedule.
This often means that the health fund’s payable amount is lower that the AMA fee leaving an out of pocket ‘gap’ to the patient.
Not all Health fund’s are equal and each fund will pay a different amount for the same item number. This has a big impact on the out of pocket fees to patients.
In some instances the health fund will have a maximum gap they will allow us to bill their members which doesn’t equate to the AMA fee schedule. Unfortunately, this then requires patients to pay the full amount of the surgery fee up front prior to surgery and then claim back via Medicare and the health fund at the schedule fee rate.
Our practice manager will always provide you a pre-surgical quotation and take the time to explain the to your prior to your surgery booking and ensure you are aware your estimated out of pocket costs.
Other out of pockets costs include:
-
Hospital Excess
-
In patient pathology or radiology
-
In patient pharmacology
